Welcome to part 2 of our 3 part series on Dying, Death, and Funerals. Death can be a scary, painful thing, but it’s our desire that this series will remind you of the hope we have in Christ. Today, we’re going to talk about how to handle some of the practicalities of death and funerals, plus some thoughts on ministering to the bereaved. And, of course, as Christians, the Bible will also inform how we handle those practical details.

Could you speak a little about those that pass that are an adult but of low cognitive ability. Our 23 year old son passed away 2 years ago. I know “in my heart”that he is in heaven with our Lord, but can you point out scripture that’s tell us this.
Hi Norma- We are so sorry for your loss. We had already completed recording all three parts of this series when your comment came in, but I hope this article that I wrote a while back will be helpful. May the Lord comfort and strengthen you, and give you peace.
Oops! I broke two rules, but my parents would approve!
1. I wore a red dress at my mother’s funeral! She loved bright colors! Also it was a dress that would “spin” when you twirled around, which my great niece and I did together. My mother loved to sew “spinning” skirts for her granddaughters and great-granddaughter! She was also proud that I lost weight to wear that dress.
2. My sister and I often took photos/selfies with our daddy. So yes, when it was just the two of us with his body, we totally took photos of one another with Daddy. I’m sure he would not have had a problem with it. Also he would totally have made a silly face!!
